About the Project

Six different zones to explore, each celebrating the positive thrills of play. Epic climbing towers, interlocking slides with lights, a wheelchair accessible seesaw and the longest swing line in the UK.

SKYPARK was designed with inclusion in mind. Sensory surprises and wheelchair accessible play elements allow children of all abilities to play together. An inclusive seesaw allows wheelchair users to experience a gentle rocking sensation, while the unique ‘Sound Dome’ provides a place of calm and stimulation for the senses, playing 18 nature sounds. There is also a wheelchair accessible trampoline and roundabout, a seated swing for support and sociability, and wheelchair friendly walkways, ensuring no child is left out.

Each zone (Joy, Happiness, Excitement, Surprise, Curiosity and Calm) has its own unique and differentiating features. An immersive tunnel of emotions connects the play spaces and illuminates the central pathway. Children can follow the circular ‘heartbeat’ to six different zones that celebrate the positive emotions of play. Along the way, there will be a series of drums, bells and chimes for musical fun, as well as trampolines.

Thrill: Red. A 10-metre tower with an illuminated intertwined tube slide. At the heart of the action is the 10-metre high Thrill Tower. As young explorers overcome thrilling climbing challenges, they will reach a tube slide that lights up as they slide down it. This interactive slide intertwines with another slide in the Tower of Surprise for an exciting visual experience.

Happiness: Orange. 42-metre illuminated swing line. The swing is a must on the playground. Up to 20 children can use them at a time in a variety of seating arrangements, including baskets, nests, inclusive seating and a giant swing for face-to-face groups. And it lights up at night.

Joy: Yellow. This bright and fun area will bring out more than one smile. The small-sized Tower of Joy offers younger users a unique sensory experience through a mirrored mosaic ceiling that lights up at night. There is also a double-wide slide, climbing elements and interactive memory-based games.

Purple: Calm. Sound dome and see-saw. After running, climbing, swinging and jumping, the purple zone offers gentle play experiences for when energy levels are low. The tent-like Sound Dome stimulates the senses with 18 soothing nature sounds, while a wheelchair-friendly seesaw reinforces the sensory aspect of this space.

Green: Curiosity. Inclusive and interactive games. An exciting space where mum and dad can join in the fun. People of all ages can work together to overcome different challenges. The green arch features interactive movement-based games for inclusive and intergenerational play.
